Multi-table tournaments (MTTs) are the most popular way to play poker today. Big fields and even bigger prize pools make them attractive to both casual and serious players.
Every player that enters a poker tournament pays the same buy-in and are assigned the same number of chips. Once the tournament starts, everyone plays until a single player has all the chips in play and is declared the winner. The prize pool is then distributed to the top percentage of players that survived the longest, on a sliding scale.
For example, if 100 players enter a €10 tournament, there would be €1,000 in the prize pool that would be distributed between the top 17 players with the winner receiving the biggest percentage of the prize pool.
Tournament formats Multi-Table tournaments come in all shapes and sizes and at Unibet Poker we offer No Limit Texas Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha tournaments with 6 players or 9 players per table and in a variety of formats. Freezeout Freezeout tournaments only allow players to enter the tournament once so once you’ve lost all your chips you’re out of the tournament.
Re-Entry In a re-entry tournament, if you lose all your chips, you’ll be given the opportunity to buy into the tournament again and get another stack of chips to play with. The number of times you can re-enter a tournament will be stated in the tournament lobby, and you can only re-enter when late registration is open.
Rebuy/Addon Rebuy/Addon tournaments work similarly to re-entry tournaments where eliminated players are given the opportunity to re-enter the tournament if late registration is still open when they lose all their chips. In some R/A tournaments, players can also buy another starting stack if their chips drop below the number of chips they started the tournament with. Example: In a €10 tournament where players start with 3000 chips, Player A loses 200 chips in the first hand and now has a stack of 2800. The player can now pay another €10 and get another 3000 chips added to their stack so they would have a total of 5800 chips.
At the end of late registration, all remaining players are given the option to make an addon, usually for the same price as the buy-in, where they receive an additional stack of chips. The addon is usually twice the chips in the starting stack. In the example above, the addon would be 6000 chips.
